Panic landing at a dead run!

I just received an email from Cathy at Love Quilts. She has accepted my proposal to create a pattern for a fire truck. I will be using a fire truck from Alphabet Soup that Donna O’Briant has graciously allowed me to use.

I was having a hard time finding a fire truck for Ethan S. that was the right size and hadn’t been used. Then I started looking at fire truck pictures on the Google image search. . . then I started getting ideas. There are some wonderful, fabulous fire truck photos on the net. I picked a couple and emailed about using them for the pattern. Thank goodness I heard back from Donna at Alphabet Soup with her simple colouring book graphic first. Otherwise visions of brick arches and three-quarter views in glorious colour were dancing around my head. Please “Suze’me dear, keep your first fire truck simple!” Yes, mam,” I meekly respond, hands behind my back, head bowed.

Phew, I listened to myself for once. Why did the human race ever develop round wheels!?! I bow low to designers who can create the wheel in cross stitch, I will every be your humble servant.

For what it’s worth. . .

It all started with a, “Hey, look! Google has groups!” (Ya, I know they have had them for ever but I’m always the last to know things)

Then it was, “Wonder what cross-stitch groups might be there?”

On to, “Cool, there are several of them.”

It was a little disconcerting to discover people had started groups, had others email and join, and then never even bothered responding to those who had just joined their group. It really left you wondering!

Wondering – “Is it so easy to start groups that a person starts one in every interest possible, then forgets where they left pieces of themselves?”

Click, click clickity click “Cool, it is easy to start a group!”

“Wonder how Google sets up it’s groups?” click clickety click, click “Neat, let’s see if just anyone can join . . . ”

“On no, it just let somebody join without my moderating, I’d better fix that.”

“There. Description, membership application question, category . . . Viola”

So for what it’s worth, The Branch of Official Stitching a chapter of the Brown Paper Bag Society is up and running . . . .

(wanders off shaking head)

It realy does make you wonder!

Surrounded by Beauty

There hasn’t been much sunshine out there, just hoar frost, mist and snow.

Today though we had a glimpse of the sun. It is incredibly beautiful. The cold, clean air is wonderfully invigorating.

I’ve been out walking with the dogs lots. They love this time of year. Holly rolls in the snow and charges everywhere. Tank teases Holly romping just out of her reach taunting *rabba, rabba, rabba!* Little Bit investigates every little mouse hole and never slows to a walk, ears flapping.

walking the dog
I had to re-do Little Bit’s sweater. Previously I added a little piece of ribbing to the belly, thinking it would be too tight across the chest. The first time out in the snow the thing stretched out and acted like a snow scoop, filling full of snow. I took out the ribbing and made the legs longer for a better fit . . . so now it is back to Dead Daxie when I pull it out. Unappreciative little wench!

I was going to go out and take more pictures of the new improved sweater, but some people are coming to purchase some of Steve’s matted pictures for hostess gifts! Yup, you guessed it I’m going to be cleaning instead of walking!
