The Snow Burr Family

I have enjoyed getting some Christmas stitching completed this year. This cute snow family, complete with snow kitty, is the latest. I loved the shading on this piece.

I finally figured out why my digital camera was giving me such awful colourings for my stitching. I have been hanging them on a sandstone coloured wall and the silly thing makes the wall white and the stitching eye-twisting combination of colours. It works much better to use a white background. So I won’t throw my camera away today!

I am also working on a beautiful piece by Dyan Allaire of Kustom Krafts. It appears what all my struggles with blending filament and metallic threads while working on the MarBek Nativity was worth it. I’m not having near the troubles with this piece.

Now if I could only find my Christmas music . . . . somebody around here loves playing hide-and-go-seek with the things I want in my hand right this instance!

We survived – and we’re liking -5C!

That little taste of cold was quite sufficient thank-you very much! The dogs were elated to get out into the field for some walking again.

move over!
The snow is only about 10cm deep but still the critters line up behind the pack leader. I never thought our walking trails would need passing lanes. Little Bit is found walking on the heels of everyone until they move out of the way so she can dash off on point. Can’t you picture the puzzlement of passers by when they see a sign stating . . .

famous last and frozen words

I seem to recall some smart aleck writing longingly of -20C winter temperatures. Here we are at -25C during the day and a night time temperature of -30C. The house is creaking it’s protest making us all jump and start.

With such degrees comes frozen water pipes and many more trips to the woodshed – for firewood. With such paw freezing degrees the dogs are mowing me down in their frenzy to back away from any opened door. It is fascinating how long dogs, who previously required a stroll around the yard every two hours, can now wait over 12 before making an expedient trip to the great commode . . .

Hmm, they are trying to tell me they can now walk with three legs off the ground? I wouldn’t recommend it; it looks a trifle undignified for a purebred Rottweiler . . . now Little Bit, well, she can make anything look exceedingly cute!

The coyotes have been out in the field laughing at this house full of wimps.

Check out this picture at Northern Needles, if you think I’m exaggerating!
