In memory of a special Rottie

Jake - much loved

Jake, one special Rottweiler, 1993-2000.

I purchased this kit shortly after we lost our beloved Jake to bone cancer in his jaw. It happened so suddenly we had a hard time dealing with it. He was so full of life (and Himself) it just didn’t seem a part of reality. Slowly stitching this sampler became an important part of the grieving process for me.

Steve just framed it and with great joy we hung it on the stairway wall, where we will often walk by it.

The fobs have arrived in Utah!

I’ve discovered that sitting on a completed pair of stitchings and not being able to post the pictures was very, very hard on this little bird. Dropping them in the mail and waiting for them to arrive was very, very hard on this little bird. And I don’t have to tell stitchers how hard it is to cut and sew little scissor fobs! Joni, I’m pleased you are happy with your fobs. May they ever keep the frog far, far from you!

The Americana fob was an experiment for me; I have avoided special stitches for the most part. Here I was able to try satin stitch, algerian eyelets and long stitch stars. I love how they enhanced the relief of the flag. Of course, I was very *relieved* to discover how easy they were to do!

Guardian of the Weak & Helpless

We had just entered the kitchen for a late-night snack, Tank lumbering along with us. Holly greeted him with a snarl and exposed teeth; he exited quickly! Since Holly is always to be found sleeping close by our location (the computers, of course!) finding her in advance of our rumbling tummies was a surprise to say the least.

Only by observing her surreptitious glances at the thawing Thanksgiving Turkey were we enlightened!

My Turkey!

We couldn’t get Tanker back into the kitchen to demonstrate Holly’s excellent protective instincts for the camera . . .

Be There or Be Round

After much bemoaning about being in shape (no, A shape– that being oval approaching round) a friend and I have decided to encourage each other to walk. The best way to make sure you walk is to walk together. But there is a BIG but . . . (the BIG but explained)

But being more creative than realistic we still walk together: the time-13:00, the date-4 times a week (this does not depend on the sun and it’s shining face, Vivie-me-dearie), the place-out our respective front doors. Be There or Be Round! We will post photos of our respective watches at the far end of walks as proof of the venture.

I thought to post a shot of my wan hand holding said watch but puppies expressing their joy and gratitude of being out on such a wonderful day is much more photogenic!

The beginning of an obsession

My first box of yarn has arrived in the mail. There is something magical about sitting there with that light, wonderful taped box in your lap. A box full of dreams; the first of many I’m positive. You carefully open it and pull out a glorious array of soft cuddly yarn.

You hold all the colours and arrange them next to the princess, just to see how they look.
